Fisayo Ajala
Fisayo Ajala holds a PhD in Sociology from Stellenbosch University, South Africa. His doctoral dissertation focused on the Nigerian military widows of the Boko Haram conflict and how they coped and survived in the absence of state support. He is a three-time SSRC Next Gen Doctoral Award recipient in 2019, 2020 and 2021. His research interests are in the areas of armed forces and society, gender, peace, and security. His articles and book reviews have been published in African Security, LSE Book Review, African Studies Quarterly, and The Republic: Journal of Nigerian Affairs. His most recent article, co-authored with Lindy Heinecken, titled “The Military as a Non-Caring Institution: A Case Study of Nigerian Military Widows of the Boko Haram Conflict,” is published in Armed Forces and Society, and is available Open Access.
