When you fund the research of young and middle-career academics, you are enabling them to make sure that the knowledge produced in Africa actually goes onto the global stage and that’s very important, especially now when people are talking about decolonizing knowledge.
"I think that if peace is to be sustainable, it has to be locally owned. It cannot be driven from the outside. And what we have seen overall, as you look back over the years, is that in many cases African voices and African knowledge is missing from our approach to peace and peacebuilding."
