The SSRC is an independent, international, nonprofit organization. It fosters innovative research, nurtures new generations of social scientists, deepens how inquiry is practiced within and across disciplines, and mobilizes necessary knowledge on important public issues.
Emilly Comfort Maractho is a researcher, writer, Next Gen fellow (Dissertation Research, 2015-16), and Carnegie ASA Fellow 2018. She is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Department, Journalism and Media Studies in the Faculty of Journalism, Media and Communication, at Uganda Christian University, Mukono, Uganda. Emilly holds a PhD in cultural and media studies (University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, 2017). She graduated with an MA in communication (Daystar University, 2014); an MA in development studies (Uganda Martyrs University, 2007) and a BA in development studies (Hons) (Makerere University, 2003). Her research interests are in media, gender, and social justice.
