Robin Faißt holds a Bachelors in Political Science from Free University Berlin and is currently pursuing a Masters in International Relations at Humboldt University of Berlin, Free University Berlin, and University of Potsdam. His research interests lie in peace and conflict studies with a regional focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. In 2018, he participated in a year-long study exchange at the University of Pretoria during which this essay was written.
