Joyce Omwoha
Joyce Omwoha is a researcher and academic. She is a recipient of a 2016 SSRC APN Individual Research Fellowship award, and has contributed towards advancing peacebuilding research in Africa, focusing on the role of media and social change, particularly in Kenya. Currently, Joyce serves as the Vice Secretary of the Peace and Development Researchers Association (PADRA) Kenya, a network that connects Social Science Research Council (SSRC) grantees/fellows from the Africa Peacebuilding Network and the Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa (APN and Next Gen) programs. This platform fosters interactive dialogue on security, peacebuilding, and development among Kenyan scholars. In addition, she is a communications strategist at the Africa Coordinating Centre for the Abandonment of FGM (ACCAF), a multidisciplinary network of academics in medical, legal, and gender fields, dedicated to strengthening research, promoting evidence-based practices, and implementing strategies to eliminate Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Africa within a generation.
