Yilkal Ayalew Workneh earned his Ph.D. in Federalism and Governance from Addis Ababa University's Center for Federalism and Governance Studies. He has been working as an assistant professor in the Department of Civic and Ethical Studies and as the research and community service coordinator of the College of Social Science and Humanities at Debre Tabor University. His research interests are post-colonial state-nation building, federalism and nation-building in multi-ethnic societies, and sub-national and local government. At the moment, he is teaching various courses in the aforementioned interdisciplinary department, such as “Federalism: Theory and Practice,” “Politics in the Horn," “Constitution and Constitutionalism," and “Survey of African Socio-Political Systems." Yilkal has been researching in the above areas and has published research papers and reports in reputable journals and repositories. He is undertaking his dissertation titled “The Dynamics of Amhara Nationalism and Its Political and Institutional Implications,” which intended to capture ethnicity and nationalism in Ethiopia from the perspective of emerging Amhara nationalism.
