Elias Courson
Elias Courson (PhD, Geography) is a lecturer in the Department of Philosophy, Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. He has carried out extensive research on the hydrocarbon-induced crisis in Nigeria’s Niger Delta. Dr. Courson is a recipient of the Centre of Africa Studies fellowship (2018–2019), University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. He is a recipient of the SSRC’s Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa fellowship (2012) and African Peacebuilding Network (APN) Collaborative Working Group Research grant (2017). Dr. Courson is also a recipient of the Luce Foundation on Green Governance/Peace 2006–2007 fellowship at the Institute of International Studies, University of California, Berkeley, and the Rotary World Peace Fellowship award 2008–2010 at the Rotary Center for International Studies in Peace and Conflict Resolution, University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Courson earned his PhD in Geography from the University of California, Berkeley in 2016.
