Sani Yakubu Adam

Sani Yakubu Adam is a lecturer in History at Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria. His areas of interest include religion and conflict, the history of Islam in northern Nigeria, and book history. He was a fellow of the All-Africa House Fellowship of the University of Cape Town in 2015 and a recipient of Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa Proposal (2018), Doctoral Research (2019), and Completion Fellowships (2020). He was also a recipient of the SSRC’s 2024 APN Individual Research Fellowship (IRF) award. His PhD thesis from the University of Cape Town focused on the formation and expansion of the northern Nigerian book trade with particular reference to Kano. It analyses the “communication circuits” of books by highlighting the roles and intersections of the dominant players in the book market, including authors, printers, publishers, booksellers, and readers.
