Daniel Lifuka Sichinga (Izu)

Daniel Lifuka Sichinga (Izu) is a 2025 African Peacebuilding Developmental Dynamics Research Fellow, a 2024 Ros Moger and Terry Furlong Canon Collins Scholar, and a 2020 Mandela Rhodes Scholar from Chingola, Zambia. He is a Doctoral Researcher in Criminology at the University of Cape Town, focusing on the experiences of LGBTQI+ police officers within the South African Police Service. Izu has published a chapter in the Palgrave Handbook on police experiences and perceptions of LGBTQI+ hate crimes in Cape Town. He holds a BA from Glasgow Caledonian University/African Leadership College, an MPhil from the University of Cape Town, and an MBA from One-League. Izu’s research interests include police and policing, security sector governance, Queer hate crime studies, and southern criminology.
