Yusuf K. Serunkuma

Yusuf K. Serunkuma is a three time Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa fellow with the Social Sciences Research Council (SSRC), and is member of the Board of the African Studies Association (ASA) as the Emerging Scholars' Representative. Yusuf is a Ugandan scholar focusing on Somalia-Somaliland where he studies popular culture, secessionist nationalism, nationalist sentiments and identity after the civil war. He also has scholarly interests in literature, decolonization, agrarian studies, violence, and refugee studies. He is currently a guest scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Halle/Saale, Germany.
